Adding an Item Digit

1. When you first enter the Item Digit option a Select An Option window will appear listing the first digit and fourth through eighth item digits. Determine which digit of the item digits you wish to add. The first digit allows you set up broad categories of items. The second and third digits are used along with the first digit to create the item group; they are not defined in Item Digits. Together, the first three digits form the item group (you will define the second and third digits when you create the item product group). The fourth through the eighth digits (which represent unique item characteristics) can be used to design a very effective and logical product code list which is also easy to keyboard when taking orders on the phone. Scroll to the digit you would like to define and press Enter to confirm your selection.

2. A Select An Option window will appear with the following options:

Scroll to ADD and press Enter to select.

3. Fill in the fields based on the following definitions. If you are defining a first digit, all fields are displayed. If you are defining a fourth through eight digit, just the Item Digit and the Description fields will appear.

Hint: If you enter the digit assigned above as the first character in the description, you will find it easier to create item codes and use the item mask because the system looks for the first digit of the description to assign the code in the mask.

4. Command options will appear:

Select Add. If you are done, press the Enter key to exit the Item Digit option.

For more information on the Item Digits option see Item Digits.
